Hudson Valley Man Nabbed For Attempted Murder In Stabbing Incident, Police Say

A person residing in the region was nabbed for alleged attempted murder in a stabbing incident that seriously wounded another man.

The attack occurred in Dutchess County at 1 a.m. Sunday, June 30, in the area of Smith and Mansion Streets in Poughkeepsie.

According to the Poughkeepsie Police, on Thursday, Oct. 17, members of the Neighborhood Recovery Unit, Detective Bureau, and Patrol Division located and arrested Rushaan Francis, age 27, of Poughkeepsie, in connection with the June 30 stabbing. 

Police said the 44-year-old victim was located suffering from multiple stab-slash wounds.  The City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department and Empress EMS treated the victim, who was transported to an area hospital where he underwent surgery.

Following an investigation, Francis was charged with felonies of attempted murder and assault. He was processed at police headquarters and held pending arraignment.
